Four wheels good, two wheels better.
Unfortunately, it takes more than an Orwell allusion to pull off a serious manual combo on your skateboard, so you better leave it to some potential pro-worthy amateurs. On Friday, September 4, 30 of the AZ’s best amateur skateboarders will compete to win more than $7,000 in video equipment by pulling off the best manual tricks at Red Bull Manny Mania. A panel of pro skateboarders, including Red Bull’s Steven Webb, will choose the winner during the competition that will take place (and shut down traffic) on Roosevelt Row, Roosevelt and Fifth streets.
The free event also features live music and takes place in conjunction with the “DECK III” art exhibit at Pravus, 501 East Roosevelt, where you can check out original, skateboard-inspired work from well-known artists during a First Friday reception.
