Some do it for the adrenaline rush; others for the adoration of the hundreds of cheering fans. Purists do it for that raw, organic energy that shakes their souls.

All this can only mean one thing: a marathon.

Participants in the P.F. Chang’s 7th Annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona Marathon will be running through the cities of Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Tempe. If you’re not familiar with the event, it’s a standard 26.2-mile marathon with the added twist of a musical performance at every mile. Local bands will be waking at the crack of dawn to set up and rock some sweaty socks off. At the end of the race, runners will be greeted by the Finish Line Festival headlined by rock group Vertical Horizon.

Oh, for you pansies, there’s also a measly 13.1-mile half marathon.
