When electronica producers Michael Vincent Patrick and Theodore Paul Nelson conjured up the name Designer Drugs for their underground dance music act, they probably couldn’t have picked a more apropos moniker. That’s because the dope DJ duo crafts ultra-energetic mixes of electro-funk and heady house music that are practically addicting to the ears.
Ditto for Dylan Eiland, the Atlanta-born mixmaster who performs as Le Castle Vania. His electro-heavy sonic blends and remixes of artists like Cee-Lo and Boys Noize have earned him plenty of laudings from both the blogosphere and the scribes of URB Magazine.
This trio of tastemaking turntablists will co-headline Summer Massive on Friday, July 1, at the Venue Scottsdale, 7117 East Third Avenue, which should bring out the hipster crowd in abundance. Locals William Fucking Reed, Don Ricardo, and 2ToneDisco will also perform.
