Nowhere is androgyny more embraced than in the world of fashion. Models like Agyness Deyn and Freja Beha and their boyish, lanky bodies and strong brows have gained notoriety as the faces of Armani and Chanel, respectively.
While the models walking at Modéle Ruse haven’t starred in any similarly massive campaigns (yet), their looks will echo those of Deyn and Beha as the show’s theme is glam androgyny. Clothing, styled by Jessica Hunter, from designers Kelly Calabrese, Amir Saebe, and boutique Nostra Style House will accompany hairstyles from Peoria salon Gemini of Chicago, whose owner, Lisa Kiorkis, organized the show with Fashion-Faces Magazine‘s Jesca Alfano.
“I want to portray an idea of confidence and strength without attaching a gender role to it,” Kiorkis says of the show, which will also feature artwork from Heather Tipton, Rosa “Monstro” Flores, and more.
