Russell Brand’s listed tourmates (Jesus Christ, Che Guevara, Gandhi, Malcolm X, and, um, Hitler) also serve as a killer dead-or-alive dinner party dream team. There’ll be plenty of food for thought when the English funnyman brings his Messiah Complex world tour to Phoenix Saturday, September 7.
The multi-hyphenate comic has had some downs over his career: drug and sex addiction, a pop star divorce, and movie flops. It’s Brand’s pluck in dusting himself off, though, that has led to his success as the dottering Dr. Nefario in the Despicable Me flicks and landed him a leading role in Oscar-winner Diablo Cody’s directorial debut, Paradise, which opens in October. Journeying into the comedian’s mind just might lay bare all his complexities.
Russell Brand performs at The Orpheum Theater, 203 West Adams Street. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $35 to $210. Although no seats are currently available, reserved spots could open up. Keep tabs on www.ticketmaster.com or call 602-262-7272.
