Phoenix Design Week 2013 is an eight-day celebration of design featuring events, panels, parties, and plenty of opportunities for designers and design lovers to geek out.

Things get rolling on Friday, October 18, when PDW opens with a Creative Mornings lecture and continues with the Method + Madness Conference. But the fun starts later that evening at Crescent Ballroom, the venue that’ll play host to design week’s PechaKucha Night. The evening will feature a series of quickie presentations on passion projects from filmmakers, designers, dancers, and fine artists. The event continues with a chance for all of the above (and more) to interact and network, as well as take in music from Djentrification and Ladylike (whose singer, Rob Kroehler, is a New Times contributor).

General admission is $10 to PechaKucha night, which runs from 7 to 11 p.m. at 308 North Second Avenue. Admission is free for those who attend the M+M Conference, which runs through Sunday, October 20. Registration is required and can be completed at www.phxdw.com.

Fri., Oct. 18, 7-11 p.m., 2013
