Being comfortable can be overrated. At least that’s what the Movement Source Dance Company is counting on with its collaborative Halloween-themed project, The Danse Macabre. Because, while dance alone can stagnate, bringing theater, illusion, and the undead together promises a new take on the arts.
Meant to unsettle the audience through haunting music, illusion and modern dance, the Danse Macabre will unite Movement Source dancers with violinist Tobie Milford and master performer “Creepy John.” The theatrical experience will explore the disturbing but beautiful side of the undead mind, immortality, and the macabre. From the magical effects to the dance and musical score, it’s intended to toe the line between disquieting beauty and disturbing splendor.
Prepare to be disturbed on Saturday, October 26, at 6 and 9 p.m. at Monorchid Gallery, 214 East Roosevelt Street. Tickets cost $20 and can be purchased by calling 602-957-6561. For more information, visit www.movementsourcedancecompany.org.
