His name may not be familiar, but his ideas should be.
Austin-based (and named) Austin Kleon, author and forward-thinking creative, comes to Changing Hands Bookstore this week to discuss his newest book, Show Your Work!: 10 Ways to Share Your Creativity and Get Discovered. Kleon, a self-described “writer who draws” has been featured on NPR, in The New York Times and as a TEDx speaker thanks to his commentary on creativity in the digital age.
In the vein of Steal Like an Artist, 2012’s bestseller, his newest collection encourages transforming self-promotion into self-discovery, urging anyone under the umbrella of “artist” or “entrepreneur” to seek new creative processes: Steal from others and let them steal from you. Use the network; don’t waste time networking.
The signing begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at Changing Hands Bookstore, 6428 South McClintock Drive in Tempe. Copies of Show Your Work and Steal Like an Artist ($11.95 each) will be available for purchase in paperback. Admission is free for two with purchase of the former. Call 480-730-0205 or visit www.changinghands.com.
