One-stop-boutique Frances is filled with everything from jewelry to kitchen utensils to baby-friendly products, with a healthy dose of DIY fun in between. The next installment in its ongoing monthly workshop series features more cocktails than crafting. That’s right: mixology.

Jax Gonzalez leads the class in booze basics. The head bartender for Café at the Phoenix Public Market quenched the thirst of many an imbiber with “The TNT”: a spicy take on the classic whiskey sour at Devour’s Cocktail Competition in February. Frances’ event, presented by Emma magazine (“for the modern domestic — if Martha were a 20-something”), is part education, part hands-on-creation, part make-your-own drink coasters, bound to be colorful once drinks start flowing.

Shake it, or stir, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, at Frances, 10 West Camelback Road. Registration fee is $20 per person. Class size is 20 people maximum, so reservations are required. Visit www.francesvintage.com or call 602-279-5467.
