Get ready for a double feature with local flair when FilmBar brings two Arizona-made flicks to the big screen on Saturday, July 5.

As a part of the Arizona Filmmaker Showcase, the films PIG and Sex and Violence might take you to familiar locales, but what they’ll show you is something utterly new. The critically acclaimed PIG, for instance, is a mind-bending sci-fi thriller with a touch of amnesia. It’s unique and unusual plot has earned it 10 different wins, including Best Sci-Fi Feature at the Phoenix Film Festival. On the other hand, Sex and Violence explores the intimate experiences of one couple taking their love to physical extremes.

If you’re ready to go on those Arizona-based adventures, beer in hand, you can buy tickets online for $9 and find more information, including trailers, at www.filmbarphx.com. The 21-and-over event starts at 8 p.m. at FilmBar, 815 North Second Street.

Sat., July 5, 8 p.m., 2014
