If you’re looking for a night of fist pumping to EDM, look elsewhere, because Weapons is a monthly dance night at Cartel Coffee Lab in Tempe dedicated to “intense audio.”

“The electronic scene has become very limited in what people play and what people expect,” organizer and DJ Issa Emadi says.

Emadi, who is joined by Djentrification and Ian Frost for this initial event, says that the night is “anti-genre” and could include punk, soul, goth, funk — anything as long as it’s danceable. With a custom made, state of the art sound system, some cleared out space in the coffee shop, and Cartel’s beer on draft, dancing should be no problem.

You can get down at Weapons’ inaugural dance night starting at 10 p.m. Friday, September 26, and running until 2 a.m. the next morning. The free, 21-and-over event’s at 225 East University Drive in Tempe. Call 480-432-8237.
