If you’re over chancing the First Friday chaos hoping to take in the best new work of young local artists, you should know that Third Friday is a lot more conducive to absorbing art and you can’t do better than Modified Arts. The Roosevelt Row mainstay’s opening reception for the latest from Sarah Hurwitz and John Babbitt is Friday, November 21.

The mixed-media works from Hurwitz and Babbitt might strike some similarities with figures adrift amidst shadows and blocks of colors, but whereas Babbitt’s figures are often front and center, Hurwitz’s humans are only piece of the visual patchwork.

The opening reception for the latest works of Sarah Hurwitz and John Babbitt is at Modified Arts, 407 East Roosevelt Street, from 6 to 9 p.m. Admission is free. Visit www.modifiedarts.org for more information.

Fri., Nov. 21, 6-9 p.m., 2014
