Tucson ABC TV news station KGUN 9 is reporting that Arizona Congressman Raul Grijalva will be holding hearings on Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s anti-immigration sweeps this Thursday, and, um, no, it doesn’t sound like Sheriff Joe was invited.
Apparently, one reason for the hearing is to show what SB 1070 will look like when applied, as Arpaio essentially has been implementing his own version of SB 1070 long before it was a tender dream in racist state Senator Russell Pearce’s otherwise empty noggin.
But it doesn’t seem like Joe’s antics will be the only topic of discussion, as one of the five witnesses will be Arizona resident Silvia Rodriguez, who was brought to this country when she was two, has graduated from ASU, and has been accepted to Harvard grad school, according to the report.
KGUN 9 also states that her parents entered the U.S. illegally from Mexico. Grijalva says he wants to make her representative of the plight of potential DREAM Act students. The DREAM Act is proposed federal legislation that would allow those kids brought into the country by undocumented parents to remain here if they meet certain requirements.

Interestingly, last week Arpaio hugged it out with a group of DREAM Act students who met with him at his office, despite the undocumented status of three of them. Arpaio declined to take the college students into custody.
