Heads up, Gilbert doughnut hounds: There’s a new spot in town to get your fix of fried dough.
Courtesy of a Californian with a few doughnut stores under his belt, Good Donuts, his first in Arizona, opened in a strip mall at 865 North Gilbert Road (Gilbert and Guadalupe Roads) early last month.
Here’s what to expect.

Good Donuts offers more than 25 varieties of traditional doughnuts as well as doughnut holes and large-sized doughnuts (think apple fritters and bear claws nearly the size of catcher’s mitts). Coffee and breakfast and lunch sandwiches served up on a choice of croissant, bagel, or biscuit are available as well. There’s even Thai tea and smoothies in flavors like mango, green tea, and taro.
On my visit, Good Donut’s friendly counter gal suggested the blueberry cake and the maple bar. Both were wonderfully fresh, the maple having a more subtle, yet still satisfying, flavor than the blueberry (which was stellar). I’m told the glazed is a hit with customers as well.
Why not see for yourself? I’m sure they’d appreciate a visit.
