Stand Up Live’s sister restaurant, Copper Blues, is now open at the downtown retail/restaurant/office mecca know as CityScape. The new addition is actually located under the same roof as the upscale comedy club, which we think makes it more of a Siamese twin then sister. Whatever the case, it’s open, it’s plush, it boasts a giant bar with more than 50 beers on tap and the menu was created by none other than chef Aaron May.
We almost wrote this place off as another ho-hum CityScape project, then we took a closer look. We’re intrigued by the French onion dip baked in an onion and served with house made chips ($7), smoked gouda cheese puffs with bacon jalapeno jam ($7), lamb sliders ($13) and the smoked St. Louis style ribs with house made BBQ sauce ($10).
The beer selection can’t be beat with rarely seen beers on tap such as Purple Haze, Chimay and Golden Draak and a a good helping of local brews from Four Peaks, Papago, SanTan, Nimbus and Sonoran. Make sure you check out the Crafted Cocktails where beer and booze attempt to coexist in the same glass.
Copper Blues is open daily. Lunch available weekdays only. Food served and bar open ’til 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, Food served ’til 1 a.m. and bar open ’til 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
