Think you got soul? Prove it.
It’s tough to do in Phoenix, AZ, ain’t it? Start by heading to the ’70s Soul Jam. Hosted by Jimmie JJ Walker (yes, the actor who belted “Dy-no-mite!” on Good Times), the night features The Stylistics, who wrote the 1971 hit “You’re a Big Girl Now”; Cuba Gooding Sr., whose smooth tenor for The Main Ingredient made “Everybody Plays the Fool” a huge seller; and New Birth, who will perform classic hits like “Wild Flower” and “It’s Been a Long Time.”
