On St. Patrick’s Day everyone is Irish, and everyone’s liver gets a workout. Music is, of course, a big part of the fun. Who doesn’t love day drinking while listening to the likes of Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly, bands whose style of music is the perfect complement to pitchers of green beer? So why did the powers that be book a band — Slightly Stoopid — whose sound is often described as “a fusion of acoustic rock and blues with reggae, hip-hop and punk” for Tempe’s St. Patrick’s Day Celebration? Who knows, but though Slightly Stoopid may be better served by playing a 420 music festival, people can still enjoy nice weather and a beer garden while putting up with a white dude from San Diego playing the congas. At least Slightly Stoopid is a big-name act — even if their reputation was first made legendary by their legion of pothead-college-student fans.
