The Lexington Hotel was an unexpected stop on the Art Detour route over the weekend, as the group behind Cycle, downtown Phoenix’s first pop-up restaurant, opened their doors for a secret opening.

There was no kitchen unveiling or menu sampling during the event. Instead, Art Detour volunteers served up local brews and standard cocktails as guests doodled on the wrap-around chalkboard walls and played Jenga over eats served by Short Leash Hot Dogs.

Cycle will announce its schedule (including chefs, bartenders and short menus) for April sometime this week over Twitter, though Ty Largo, who runs the restaurant’s branding and PR, confirmed that the first chef will be Dan Moody, aka The RelationChef on April 1.

Largo says hopeful and “homeless” chefs and bartenders are welcome to pitch their own concepts for their own cycles through the restaurant: “We have chefs wanting to just do a round of deserts and other locals who want to take over the place for a long weekend.”
