Fans of chef Stephen Jones’ unique blend of Southern and New American cuisines will be happy to hear that the chef is getting ready to head up a new restaurant concept.

Called Yard Bird + The Larder, the new restaurant will be located inside the soon-to-open DeSoto Central Market, which is located at 915 North Central Avenue in downtown Phoenix.

The restaurant will be a fast-casual spot that serves Southern and New American cuisine along the lines of what Jones was doing while at Blue Hound Kitchen and Cocktails at the Hotel Palomar. Jones opened that restaurant in 2012 and developed a group of followers who loved his distinctive take on classic American and Southern foods.

And Jones says diners can expect Yard Bird + The Larder to be “better and more focused.”

As far as an opening date, Jones tells us that the market hopes to open in mid-Feburary. Located inside the historic DeSoto Building near the intersection of Central and Roosevelt, the market will offer “a variety of dining options and fresh food sales in an informal, open market atmosphere.”
