Jose Garces is an Iron Chef, but then, if you’re a fan of Food Network’s Iron Chef America, the popular culinary game show based upon the Japanese cult sensation, you already knew that.

And now, his new modern Mexican restaurant in Scottsdale, Distrito, located in the newly rehabbed Saguaro hotel on Scottsdale Mall, is bringing back its cooking class series, “How to Cook Like an Iron Chef” starting this Sunday, March 25, from 3 to 5 p.m.

The ingredient? Masa harina, the dried and powdered form of masa.

Distrito’s Chef de Cuisine, Pete Balodimas, will be teaching the class where Iron Chefs to-be will learn how to use masa harina to cook tacos, tamales, hurraches, and quesadillas.

The class will include all ingredients and tools. Participants will also get to enjoy a cocktail or beer to celebrate their journey to Iron Chef status.
