After a recent episode of Private Chefs of Beverly Hills featured upscale, individualized meals cooked for four-footed members of a high society canine club, the fact that some dogs are now eating better than people comes as no surprise. We’ve spotted pastries, biscuits and even beer for Fido at the Farmers’ Market.
Our latest find is Yogurtology’s yöghund, a frozen yogurt treat made especially for dogs. Naturally, there’s no chocolate — flavors include banana/peanut butter and blueberry/vanilla. yöghund is offered at dozens of pet resorts and doggie daycare centers around town, but this is the first time I’ve seen it at a self-serve yogurt shop.
What makes yöghund different from regular frozen yogurt?
It’s organic. And it’s naturally sweetened with juice (which prompts me to ask why the hell most yogurt places don’t have juice-sweetened yogurt for people?). According to an employee at Yogurtology’s Town & Country store, man’s best friend can technically eat all of the non-chocolate flavors at the shop. But the sugary standard yogurt…well, let’s just say you don’t want to have to clean up after Spot if he’s had that stuff.
