Obed de la Cruz of the de la Cruz family, a name synonymous with Mexican food in the East Valley, is bringing his family’s recipes to Central Phoenix in the form of a new restaurant.
Obed — whose family owns El Sol Mexican Cafe & Bakery and El Zocalo Mexican Grill (which he operates) in Chandler and Mangos Mexican Cafe and De la Cruz Bistro in Mesa — has taken over 2333 East Osborn Road, formerly Linda’s on Osborn, and plans to open a Mexican restaurant called Méjico this fall.

De la Cruz is completely remodeling the defunct Linda’s on Osborn (the nearly 20-year-old eatery from Linda McQuillan which shuttered this spring), and tells me he won’t be ready to open until October or November of this year.
