The anonymous blog takes iconic paintings from famous surrealist artist René Magritte and converts them into the simplistic 8-bit-graphic-style images of early Super Mario games. It has been gaining followers among the art and gamer communities and was most recently featured in the blog of contemporary art and culture rag, Juxtapoz Magazine.

Thus far our favorite is Racoonda, which is based on Magritte’s 1953 work Golconda. It features a showering of Super Marios in place of recognizable suited men in bowler hats. We also like Bullet Bill Transfixed, which is based on Magritte’s Time Transfixed (1938).
