Factory Made Future is reporting that What Laura Says will release a new album called Bloom Cheek on June 8.

FMF also predicts it’ll be big: “While the band has already started to garner some national attention, I have a feeling this will be the album that helps them break out on a much larger scale, especially after hearing the two preview tracks from the album.”

So I listened to those two tracks. For the first 30 seconds of “Training,” as little picks and pops created a nice mellow, but active vibe, I thought “maybe FMF is right.” Then What Laura’s patented over-the-top bass noodles and off-key harmonization kicked in and I thought, “Yeah, I never really liked that band.”

Check out the songs at FMF or at IckMusic, where they were posted about a month ago. Listen and ask yourself: Is What Laura Says the future of Phoenix music?
