Looks like Revolver Records and The Shizz are getting into the movie biz.
Starting tonight is Movie Mondays at Revolver, a celluloid shindig presented by music-centric website The Shizz. The free weekly – which kicks off at 7 p.m. tonight with a screening of Blue Velvet, the 1986 David Lynch film starring Dennis Hopper and a pre-Twin Peaks Kyle MacLachlan – will mainly focus on classic movies (upcoming flicks include Purple Rain, Blade Runner, and Labyrinth). This is especially good news for motion-picture heads that may happen to have Mondays off, since the Heard Museum has its own Movie Mondays weekly every Monday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
We suspect that the event was crafted so that Revolver can get additional foot traffic in the door during this crap economy. But, hey, we aren’t complaining, especially when Steve Zimmerman, Revolver co-owner, puts it this way: “It’s summer, and we like movies, air conditioning, and free popcorn.”
