Goodbyes are always hard.
Fortunately the blow of Hard Goods Outpost closing at Modern Manor is lessened by the fact that this isn’t the last we’ll see of Brandon Gore. The award-winning designer announced on Friday, June 20, via Instagram and Twitter that it’s closing up shop in the Melrose district.
Gore previously opened a brick-and-mortar store at Windsor Square in December of 2012. That location closed in May of 2013, and Gore relocated the shop to a room inside of retro furniture retailer Modern Manor in June of 2013.

Gore’s fiancé and business associate, Erin Leggitt, says that the closing of Hard Goods retail component inside Modern Manor is simply an issue of being stretched too thin. Currently, Gore is operating three businesses, including Hard Goods, Gore Design Company, and Concrete Design School, an educational program that Gore plans on restarting toward the end of this summer.
With Gore Design Concepts creating custom-made furniture and installations, and Concrete Design School catering to concrete training for professionals and non-professionals alike, Leggitt says that there’s not enough time and energy to continue operations at the Hard Goods Outpost.
That’s why Hard Goods is currently selling everything in its Modern Manor location for 50 percent off while supplies last. This includes limited-edition prints by Jon Arvizu, Shwood sunglasses, wooden bowties, and concrete gardens. Hard Goods plans to close its pop up shop by the end of June, however the online store will remain open online.
