It’s not always easy to keep track of your favorite local artists, especially when some are busy touring around the country. So, here’s a round-up of the goings-on of some of the Valley’s top musical acts, including The Maine, Fat Tree and Whiskey Six.
Rock Along Productions sponsored an epic Battle of the Bands at Goat Head Saloon this past weekend, with bands competing for cash and prizes. Fat Tree took home top honors. Here’s a video from the show.

Whiskey Six is currently competing in the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands 14, where prizes include a spot on the 2010 Vans Warped Tour and a recording session with producer Matt Squire. To vote for the band, go here, and check them out when they play 910 Live on Friday, April 2 at 11 p.m.
It’s pretty difficult to free-draw The Maine‘s new logo, so luckily the band has created a nifty stencil they’re selling in their online merchandise store. Guitarist Kennedy Brock shows fans other amazing goodies in this video he made.
If the economy’s got you down, local indie musician Dan Griffith has a song he hopes inspires more local buying and honest business practices. Check out the video below.
The Medic Droid is kaput, but former member Johnny Chavez is still hard at work. He’s since moved to Los Angeles and started a new project, simply titled j0hnny. The electronica artist has released some solo stuff and is also in a band called r0bots (yes, the use of the number 0 in those band names is intentional.) Check out the new stuff at www.myspace.com/j0hnnyartist and www.myspace.com/r0bots.
