A mustached man walks into a relevant bar, orders a PBR tallboy and asks, “How many hipsters does it take to change a light bulb?”
The bartender says, “I don’t know, guy.”
“Oh, you don’t know?”
Like Pabst Blue Ribbon, that joke is pretty flat. Even for those of us who are fully aware that we fit mainstream society’s definition of the term, the irony of the humorless punch-line doesn’t peak our interest. Nor do stupid viral videos that dissect hipsterdom.

“Hipster” humor is obnoxious, at least the shit on YouTube is. And that’s because hipster is a made-up word, not a definable subculture.
You’ll notice in the five videos after the jump, everyone’s definition of a hipster is different. Sure skinny jeans and mustaches provide some common ground, but what a hipster is to an Ohioan is worlds apart from what a hipster to a New Yorker. See for yourself after the jump.
Evolution of the Hipster
We don’t understand where the smelly hipster stereotype started, but for whatever reason, it’s lingered around like the scent of a dirty crust punk.
Hipsters (are roaming the campus)
We can’t argue with wolf sweaters.
The Hipster Song
Too bad the name Whitest Kids U’ Know was already taken, because Mike Cronin and Alex Stone are by far the whitest kids we’ve ever scene on YouTube.
Listen Sister, Don’t Date a Hipster
Listen sisters, we hope you’re not banking on that alt-country comedy album to pay back your liberal arts college undergrad loans.
The Hipster Anthem: I’m a Hipster
No dude, you’re not a hipster. You’re a d-bag with a shitty comedy gimmick.
