Since there’s really no better accessory than a cocktail in your
hand, each week brings you a tasty adult beverage from one of our
favorite drinking establishments, complete with recipe. This week: The Orgiastic Greenlight at Lux Central Lux Coffee Bar, the trendy Downtown Phoenix hot spot for java and hip kid eye candy, has always been a daytime destination to show non-locals our “big city” cool. The Orgiastic Greenlight speaks for itself, using the new “it” liqueur Chartreuse and served in an absinthe rinsed vintage cocktail glass. Allow 15 minutes for this bad boy to be made and if that’s a problem, enjoy your mainstream gin and tonic at the dive down the street.
We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to you. If New Times matters to you, please take action and contribute today, so when news happens, our reporters can be there. (Recipe after the jump.) Ingredients: In a shaker, muddle together lime, thyme and sugar. Add gin, Chartreuse and ice. Shake and strain contents not once, but twice into a vintage cocktail glass that has been sprayed with Absinthe. Garnish this cocktail masterpiece with a lemon wheel and a sprig of thyme. Look cooler by simply holding this cocktail in your hip little hand. Follow Jackalope Ranch on Facebook and Twitter.
Since the spot moved next door to expand space, cool ideas, and its hours, it’s no surprise Lux Central has also expanded our local cool.
