1. Scandalesque Presents: FilmBar VignettesThis Saturday, the Scandalesque Vixens will perform center stage at Downtown’s FilmBar. The group, known for their acrobatic ballet and burlesque performances, will perform vignettes featuring individual scandalesque talents. The feather and leather-clad ladies will take the stage at 10 p.m.. Tickets are $25. More info here.

Vernacular TypographyMolly Moodward has been photographing more than 5,000 examples of urban typography she finds in cityscapes and signs for the past 10 years, and has organized each by place and category on VernacularTypography.com. Her collection includes signs in Argentina, The Bahamas, Chile, Cuba, England, France, Italy, Japan, Spain, and the U.S.. She writes:
All over the world, beautiful examples of vernacular lettering are in danger of being replaced by disposable signs that represent large global corporations.Typography is a powerful marker of regional identity and has a remarkable ability to capture the local character of a particular time and place.
