The 2014 edition of the Melrose on Seventh Avenue Street Fair has been canceled, according to a recent post on the event’s Facebook page.
Organizers took to Facebook to announce that the typically annual spring event, also known as the M7 Street Fair, won’t return until 2015.

The unsigned January 24 Facebook post reads: “This years M7 Street Fair has been Postponed till March 7, 2015. The wait will be worth it! [SIC]”

Another post from that day was a flier reiterating the new date and that the rescheduled festival will be worth the wait. The 2015 edition of the fair will include its standbys of classic cars and local vendors.
The event’s website, m7streetfair.com, currently provides conflicting information, with a banner that says the street fair will happen on Sunday, March 2, 2014. However, the site’s countdown to the day of the event says it’s more than 400 days away.
It’s unclear why the fair has been canceled for this year. E-mails sent to the event’s organizers were not returned as of this writing. Rumor has it funds were lacking, due to the pricey November installation of the Melrose District Arch, which cost $498,000.
