Actor Alan Arkin is coming to town for an appearance at the Phoenix Art Museum, and he’ll be leading a workshop on improvisation in the Valley the following day.

Arkin, who has starred in such films as Catch-22, Edward Scissorhands, and Little Miss Sunshine (for which he won Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2007), is also a founding member of the Second City improvisational troupe, so his all-day workshop could be very informative and enlightening — if you can afford it.
Tickets for Arkin’s workshop on Saturday, January 29 run $295 for members of the group Independent Feature Project: Phoenix, and $350 for non-members. The workshop runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a 90 minute break for lunch, which translates to roughly $54 an hour, per student.
The class is limited to 20 students, so if you’ve got a few hundred bucks laying around, hurry and pre-pay for your spot.
“An Evening with Alan Arkin” is scheduled to take place at 7 p.m. Friday, January 28, at the Phoenix Art Museum. Tickets cost $20 and can be purchased through brownpapertickets.com. Arkin’s improvisation workshop is scheduled to take place Saturday, January 29, in the class room of the Phoenix Film Foundation offices. The class costs $295 to $350 and space must be pre-purchased at ifpphx.org or by calling 602-955-6444.
