The Arizona Derby Dames are proof that girls are not all “sugar and spice.” In fact, these tattooed roller derby ladies are more piss and vinegar than anything – they will push, shove, punch, and do whatever else it takes to propel their team to bruised victory.
Pride (and bodies) will be on the line this Saturday, June 19, when the Coffin Draggers take on the Bombshells, and the Brutal Beauties face the Runaway Brides, in a double-header at Veteran’s Memorial Coliseum. The Derby Dames have a new banked track at the Coliseum, which means they have more things to collide with besides zealous front-row fans. If you’re wondering just how hard Arizona Derby Dames roll, check out the video after the jump.
The Coffin Draggers have defeated both the Brutal Beauties and the Runaway Brides this season, but the Bombshells will be tough customers – they showed some serious guts and grit in their game against the Schoolyard Scrappers in May, leading by 11 points at the half before ultimately losing the game.
Both the Brutal Beauties and the Runaway Brides lost veteran players at the end of last season, and have rebuilt their rosters with some fiery rookies. Neither team has won a game on the banked track this year, so look for this to be a real battle.
