Cue Handybook. The new on-demand cleaning service, which launched in Phoenix on Monday, April 14, is setting out to revolutionize the way you handle household chores.

Founded in 2012 by Harvard classmates Oisin Hanrahan and Umang Dua, Handybook is a nationally growing network of on-demand services for home maintenance that’s currently available in 25 cities across the country.

Similar to on-demand car service Uber, users of the Handybok app can book vetted professionals such as plumbers, electricians, and home and office cleaners in a matter of minutes.
As far as prices go, we were quoted $105 for cleaning a two-bed, two-bath home (an estimated three-hour service) and $170 for two hours of plumbing services.
This instant access to household service is a concept that has proven successful for Hanrahan and Dua, who reported a 60-percent monthly growth in business in 2014.
“The idea for Handybook grew out of our inability to find a trusted, responsible cleaner to clean our messy university apartment,” Hanrahan says. “After unsuccessfully searching for a reliable cleaner, we decided to build our own service.”
While the program is ideal for messy college students, Hanrahan points out these services are used by a wide range of customers, from bachelor pads to busy working parents.
“Cleaning and home repairs are a problem most people deal with and we see a wide array of consumers using our services and consistently see repeat and weekly bookings. Our website and mobile app were built with simplicity and ease of use in mind, allowing customers to book a professional in less than one minute and this grew directly out of customers’ frustrations with other cleaning services.”
