Bad news for any ladies over 25: You should have been having babies yesterday.

At least that’s what the average American thinks, according to a recent Gallup survey.

The survey polled 5,100 men and women and found that 58 percent of Americans think the ideal age for a women to have children is 25 or younger, while (somewhat unsurprisingly) 52 percent thought the men should be having children slightly later, at 26 or older.

This data comes on the heels of another report posted by Gallup which revealed that, despite a decrease in fertility rate (it reached an all-time low in 2011 with a rate of 63.2 births per 1,000 women, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control), Americans’ views on making babies have remained the same for more than two decades.

In other words, your mother’s not the only one disappointed by your lack of offspring.
