I love NPR as much as the next fella (gotta get my Car Talk on), but every now and then their media coverage highlights something truly unique –case in point, last March, Sami Yenigun ran this story about moombahton, a DC-bred brand of dance-music that encompasses elements of electro, Dutch house, reggaeton and cumbia.

The third installment of genre originator Dave Nada’s popular Moombahton Massive series dropped recently, and the compilation features some names mighty familiar to AZ electro/hip-hop/dance music fans: DJs Pickster One and Melo.

The comp, available for download on Pickster One’s site, opens with Melo and Pickster’s “I Can Make You Dance.” The tune has a heavy old-school influence, with a foot planted firmly in the electro-banger tradition moombahton has quickly established.

The mixtape also features music from stalwarts A-Mac, Sabo, Jay Vegas, DJ Apt One and a remix of Temper Trap’s “Sweet Disposition” (you know, from those Diet Coke commercials) courtesy of Nadastrom, the working name of moombahton founder Dave Nada and his partner Matt Nordstrom, Dirty South and Axwell.
