A Valley man is in rough shape today after he was hit by a train Saturday night in Tempe.
If you lived near train tracks when you were 12 years old, you probably know how cool it is to put a coin on the tracks and watch a train flatten it. That’s apparently what this numskull was trying to do — only he’s 25.
Tempe fire officials say the man, whose name wasn’t released, was trying to put the coin on the tracks near 10th Street and Mill Avenue in Tempe at about 2 a.m. Saturday.
The coin fell between the tracks and when the man tried to retrieve it, he was hit by an oncoming Union Pacific train.
