A former NFL linebacker found himself smack-dab in the middle of some baby-mama drama Sunday night, which apparently turned physical and came to end when he was arrested by police.

According to court documents obtained by New Times, Mark Fields, a former linebacker for the Carolina Panthers, was arrested Sunday night for allegedly choking his daughter’s mother outside of a childcare center in Avondale.

Police responded to reports of an argument outside of the  center and found the victim inside the building, bruised, scratched, and physically shaking.

Fields told police the woman tried to take his 6-year-old daughter from his arms and the two began arguing.

Witnesses, however, tell a different story.

According to the court docs, several witnesses say Fields confronted the woman in front of the childcare center, grabbing her by the neck before putting her in chokehold and throwing her to the ground.

One witness claimed to see Fields ball his hand into fist as though he was going to hit the woman while she was on the ground.

The victim told police Fields wasn’t supposed to have any contact with the child. She was at the facility to drop off some court-ordered paperwork when Fields approached her and went ballistic.
