The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety wrapped up a more than a two-week sweep to bust drunk drivers yesterday, and, well, they “nailed” a lot of people.
According to the GOHS, between August 21, and Septemeber 7, authorities busted 1,136 drunk drivers as part of the sweep that was given the title “Drive Hammered, Get Nailed.”
Of the 1,136 arrested, 372 were Arizona-exclusive “extreme DUIs,” where the drivers blood-alcohol level was more than .15.
Authorities say 124 of those ticketed had previous DUI convictions, and 109 were minors.

While the sweep was successful on paper, we wonder if there isn’t a bit of a numbers game going on here; keep in mind, one idiot is responsible for two of these arrests, less than two hours apart from each other.
