Police believe a 25-year-old Tempe resident fatally shot his 3-month-old son before committing suicide.

Rajneesh Saini was at a family gathering at a home in Chandler when he went out to his vehicle and committed the murder/suicide, police believe.

According to a 911 call placed by the 3-month-old’s grandfather, it appeared that Saini shot his son in the head, before shooting himself in the head.

Both Saini and the child were dead when emergency responders arrived, around 2 a.m. Sunday.

Chandler Police Detective Seth Tyler tells New Times this morning that police don’t have a motive for the apparent murder/suicide at this point, as police are still investigating.
