The multidisciplinary collective Postcommodity made up of Native American and indigenous artists Raven Chacon, Cristóbal Martínez, Kade L. Twist, and Nathan Young formed in 2006 to boost the signal of underrepresented world views. Their latest exhibition at Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, “southwestNet: Postcommodity,” consists of two large-scale installations, 2011’s Promoting a More Just, Verdant and Harmonious Resolution and 2015’s Pollination. Promoting a More Just, Verdant and Harmonious Resolution features perfect ambiance disrupted by “sound bombs” triggered by movement while Pollination takes the form of a peep show of sorts.
“southwestNET: Postcommodity” is on exhibit at SMoCA, 7374 East Second Street, on Tuesday, March 31, from noon until 5 p.m. and continues through April 26. Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for students, and free for those under 15 years of age. For more information, visit www.smoca.org.
