Organizers of an awards ceremony for the Tulsa Police Department have nixed Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu as a guest speaker for the event because they didn’t want the embattled sheriff to taint the event.
The Tulsa World reports that more than 40 Tulsa, Oklahoma police officers will receive awards for acts of heroism in 2011, and police officials “decided to schedule another speaker to avoid any unwanted attention from the ongoing scandal.”
