A Phoenix woman was arrested yesterday for trying to burn her apartment building to the ground. When asked later why she set the blaze, 37-year-old Tiffanie Worz told investigators she was having a hard time securing a doctor’s appointment, and was mad at some of her friends.
Last night about 9 p.m., fire crews were called to an apartment complex near 44th Street and Indian School Road. The building was on fire, and Worz admitted to intentionally setting the blaze.
According to fire officials, the blaze was started on the second floor of the building when Worz lit a piece of paper on fire and put it on her bed.
All 20 units in the complex share an attic, so the smoke spread quickly. At least five units suffered smoke damage because of the blaze.

All units were evacuated, and nobody was injured.
Aside from setting her bed on fire, Worz also told investigators she lit a trash can on fire near the apartment complex, as well.
Worz has been charged with arson of an occupied structure.
