We figured it would only be a matter of time before Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio plopped himself in front of a TV camera to offer his two cents about Saturday’s shooting rampage in Tucson. We were right — Arpaio did so on the O’Reilly Factor last night, where he inexplicably picked a fight with Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik.
Dupnik hasn’t mentioned Arpaio at all in his attacks on political rhetoric that he feels may have contributed to pushing the suspect in the case, Jared Loughner, over the edge. That didn’t stop America’s self-proclaimed “toughest sheriff” from basically inviting him to do so.
“I hope that he doesn’t go after me personally,” Arpaio raves, “because if he does then I’m gonna fight back and show how political this whole situation is.”
Arpaio ends the clip by saying “they can put that in their pipe and smoke it.”
