Those who listen to local NPR affiliate KJZZ might have noticed a few changes in the station’s programming schedule last week. Beginning on Saturday, July 11, the station debuted a new slate of shows — one that may leave some Valley food lovers with an hourlong void to fill.

That’s because the new schedule booted out NPR’s James Beard Award-winning show The Splendid Table, which aired in Phoenix for many years on Sunday afternoons.

Hosted by Lynne Rossetto Kasper, the show covers topics from cooking to food culture and appreciation. The program features guests — everyone from ramen expert Ivan Orkin to Daniel Patterson of Coi in San Francisco — and most recently won a James Beard Award for Best National Radio Show on Food in 2008.

KJZZ’s new weekend programming schedule introduced two new programs on Saturdays: The Moth Radio Hour and The Dinner Party Download. The former now airs at 3 p.m. after This American Life, and the latter airs at 1 p.m. after Ask Me Another.
