In the Caveman Days before YouTube and reality TV, people had to amuse themselves with sock puppets and radio plays and The Carol Burnett Show. We know — you’d totally kill yourself, right? The Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art breathes new life into the old-fashioned variety show with the Arte Gigante Variety Hour at neighboring Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. The event, hosted by artists Angela Ellsworth and Rico Reyes, will feature a quiz game and dance competition with local contestants including Hillary Harp and Ryan McNamara. If that sounds amazingly lo-tech, just pretend it’s a cross between Dancing with the Stars and the late Bob Ross’ painting show.
