One new idea for every day in 2011. We’re talking big, small, local, international, in action and on the drawing board. Here’s today’s — what’s yours?

Twice a year, Avery Anthology releases a collection of short fiction from established, emerging, and previously unpublished writers. These stories come from authors of all ages, races, gender, and economic background. But what the editors hadn’t considered while collecting, was the author (and the subject’s) place.

This year, the New York-based independent publication is on a mission to collect around 25 stories from the 25 most-populated American cities, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Phoenix, Philadelphia, San Diego, Detroit, San Francisco, and Jacksonville, to name a few.

Each story will center around one of the cities, and while the author doesn’t have to be born or raised there, but as the editors write, “no matter what the writers’ ties, they’ve got something to say about the city; or, perhaps, the city has got something to say about them.”
