Every building has a “special” (read: scary) place where all the miscellaneous crap ends up. Maybe it’s a junk drawer, a closet, or a dank basement filled with faux antiques you hope to sell on Cash in the Attic. At Lisa Sette Gallery, that place is a back storage room, which houses all of the art not currently on display. The room’s secrets will be exposed in the “Everything Is Illuminated: Revealing the Back Room” exhibit.

“We have this kind of dumpy, dark back room, which houses all of this amazing art that most people have never seen,” owner Sette tells New Times. “In a way, the back-room contents tell a little bit about who we are.” From work tables and storage bins to a recently unearthed Cy Twombly print that’s long been gathering dust, all of the room’s 20-plus years of contents (except the dust bunnies, natch) will be displayed in the front galleries through October 24.

Tuesdays-Saturdays. Starts: July 9. Continues through Oct. 24, 2009
