Few things represent childhood as accurately as dead babysitters and drag queens, so when we found out that local performer Becky Bodacious was kicking off her summer film series with Don’t tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead, we nearly jumped off the roof with excitement.
On Saturday, June 25, Becky Bodacious will host a screening of the 1991 Christina Applegate classic at MADCAP Theaters in Tempe, and 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit the Midnite Movie Mamacita‘s new home, The Royale.
Fans of 35mm cult classics consider Midnite Movie Mamacita, Andrea Beesley-Brown, one of the valley’s foremost experts of campy cinema.
For years, Beesley-Brown’s screened B-movies at various theaters, providing a safe haven for hipster film buffs to revel in the greatness of sleazy films. Now, the native New Zealander is almost ready to open her very own venue in Historic Downtown Mesa, and Becky Bodacious wants to help.
