Have you noticed that more and more people are drinking beer in cans these days? We’re not talking about the usual cheap swill either. The canned beer revolution unofficially began in 1990s Colorado with Dale’s Pale Ale — released exclusively in cans. Overcoming perceptions that canned beer tasted bad was challenging, but modern cans are coated, so the beer remains as intended. Today, more than 400 breweries can beer and, though not televised, this revolution is annually celebrated at the AmeriCAN Canned Craft Beer Festival. Chock full of canned beer-centric information (for example: cans keep the light and air off the beer for a fresher product than bottles offer), games, and trivia, there’s also plenty to taste, which is what it’s all about.
